If Only I Could Fart

Yeah, I know it's a funny and somewhat inappropriate title, but it sums up the day I've had. Here's the deal: during laparoscopic surgery, they fill your belly up with a bunch of air to make room for the tools to go in and for better visualization. Well, they don't remove that air when they're done so you're left with a stomach full of a big-toot-waiting-to-happen. Except it hasn't happened and I'm uncomfortable. And I'm fearful of how it is going to feel when it does happen and who will be around to witness it!
The picture above is pre-op: notice how incredible I look in a giant hospital gown and the fact that I could stand upright at that time. The picture below is post-op and you might notice my graceful new walking position. But check out my cute new nightgown: it was $7 at Old Navy!!!

My new walking style has been quite the source of jokes thanks to my caring husband and mom. Aaron says I look like either a camel or an old woman with back problems and my mom described me as a "7". She then noted that if she laid me on the floor, I would be an "L". But she was worried that she wouldn't be able to get me back up... Great to have such wonderful support! I would show pictures of my wounds but one is through my belly button so it's not noticeable and the other two are way down south and this is not that type of blog. :)
Well, I hope everyone is having a great week and I'll keep you posted on the progress!

  2. Hi, I'm new to your blog and wanted to say hello and comment! I also had laparoscopic surgery! I didn't fart it out for a few days and I was doubling over in pain! I was praying to God everyday to make me fart, lol...never thought I would pray for that! Gotta love IF and the things it makes you pray for!

I'm excited to see you ovulated. I definetely ovulated this month and it was the best feeling in the world.

Meet Our Little Miracle, Paisley Kate

The post I have been waiting 2 years to write is finally here and I can't really believe it. On Saturday, I woke up at 8:30 a.m. with BAD contractions. By the 2nd one, I knew I was in "real" labor. They were SO different than the braxton-hicks. I got out of bed and decided that I'd take a bath, until water ran down both legs. The pain after that got pretty unbearable immediately and I was having contractions every 2 1/2 to 3 minutes. So, I called Aaron at work to tell him it was "the big day". He decided I was kidding until I nearly leapt through the phone to wring his neck. :) We got to the hospital an hour later and I was dilated to a 4 and having very active contractions. They quickly got me moved to an L&D room. I got my epidural ( AMAZING - we'll talk about this in its own post soon) at a 6 and then my doctor broke my water. (Apparently at home, it had just leaked a pocket of fluid). After he broke my water, labor started picking up ...

Blogging Failure

The fact that I blog less than I exercise is not a good sign.  I miss you all.  And I'm glad to be where I'm at because the problem is that my cup runneth over.  Life is crazy.  The kids are growing and becoming real people and exploring and I'm still struggling to figure out how to parent a VERY challenging 3-year-old. Dear Paisley is actually quite a joy to raise.  She is spunky and energetic and funny.  We desperately struggle to stifle our laughter as we discipline her for things that I never expected her to do or say.  She is the center of attention and loves her baby brother like there's no tomorrow.  I've never met a more opinionated and divalicious child though.  She picks every piece of clothing she wears, which toy she brings in the car, exactly what she is willing to eat, how her hair is fixed, which door she uses to get in the car, etc.  I hear you out there judging me.  I would have to until I gave birth to Whitney ...
It has been WAY too long since I’ve posted here and I’m eager to rejoin the blogging world!!!  The kids are 5 and 7 and super fun, I’m working at a medspa doing injectables and lasers full time and I’m 14 years in to marriage now.   But here’s where life has now lead me!  I have been driven to do a medical mission trip over the past few weeks and I’m very set on Haiti.  Yes, they are currently having a temper tantrum over the increased fuel prices which they definitely can’t afford, but that country needs help!!!!!   So, I’m here to tell my story of how this all goes!  I’ll need lots of prayers and support in this crazy endeavor!
