I have several topics to talk about, so this is a hodge podge of mostly useless info!

Weight:  I've lost some!!!  My weight had fallen quickly from 150 to 130 after Paisley exited the uterus, but then it froze there.  I started going to Zumba and step class three days a week last month and have lost 4 more pounds since then.  My goal is to get back to 120 before we get pregnant again (if we're that lucky), and I can start the whole cycle over...  My clothes are finally fitting a little more, but I did buy some jeans in the next size up which is MUCH more comfortable!  I just never knew this would be so tough.

Sleep:  Totally jinxed us when I bragged about her.  That night she woke up twice to eat, but then slept through the night again last night.  So, who knows?  But she is back to only sleeping in our bed.  The night before last she only slept one hour in her cradle before waking up.  So, last night I just put her with us to start.  Problem here is that I LOVE sleeping with her.  It's the sweetest thing in the world to wake up next to her warm cuddly body.  I like her sweet hand that she rests on my chest and the amazing smiles she gives when she first wakes up.  Call me a pushover.  I deserve it.  But you know how much nicer it is to wake up by her instead of an ovulation chart and thermometer?

Breasts: Feeding is still going really well, I'm luckily making enough to feed her and save about 10 ounces extra a day.  I have no idea why I'm worried about stockpiling it because this child HATES bottles.  She took one from my mom last weekend as a last resort when she figured out I wasn't home to feed her.  She took 6.5 ounces which I thought was probably good.  Obviously I don't know how much she's eating, since my breasts don't have measurements on them.  You know what they do have though?  Stretch marks.  My belly escaped without any, yet my poor boobs have a ton.  Mainly on the bottom side, which I guess is to be expected when they grow 2 cup sizes.  It's all worth it though so Paisley can get milk, and I can save money on formula.  :)

Schedule:  I'm thinking that I may try getting her on a more predictable eating schedule.  Do your babies eat on a schedule or just as needed?  It would be easier for when I go back to work part-time since she'll be with Aaron.  That way he can prepare her bottle (hope she didn't hear me type that word) ahead of time.  Plus, it would be nice for me to know when she might get hungry.  I was thinking of doing every 3 hours since it seems to fall around then anyways.  Does this work for anyone else?  Any suggestions?  As far as sleep schedules, she has NONE.  She usually goes to sleep around 10:30, but hates waking up early.  She'd like to stay in bed until about 9:30 and is not too happy when I wake her up earlier than that.   Naps are all over the place and last anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours.

I'm still learning more and more about her all the time and feel like I'll never quite understand what I'm doing!

  1. I am babysitting my grand daughter through marriage and she is ten months old. Her Mom has a routine she wants to try to follow but in the end the baby is the boss.

  3. I'm starting to think very seriously about getting back into an exercise routine, but I'm not quite ready to go there just yet. But yes, those first 20 pounds melt away pretty quickly - the last 20...not so much! At least you can wear non-maternity clothes!

If you guys like to co-sleep with Paisley, I wouldn't worry about getting her into her crib. Do whatever works best for your family. As for Paisley's routine, I have no idea, but please let me know when you've figured it out!

  4. I have my precious almost 4 month old girl on a schedule, because otherwise she would hardly ever eat or sleep, so much interesting things going on in the world right now.
We always wake up at the same time (with alarm if needed, but now she wakes up at the same time even if we don´t set the alarm). (I always feed her when she wakes up and before she goes to sleep. I put her on a schedule (from a book, that has age appropriate schedules, and adjusted it to her, not quite the same but almost) at 3 months because she was not getting good naps during the day anymore.

Wake up - breastfed - awake for 2 hours
    Breastfed - sleep 2 hours
    Breastfed - awake for 2 hours -
    breastfed - sleeps 2 hours
breastfed - awake for 2 hours
    Breastfed - sleeps 30 min -1 hour
    Breastfed - awake for 2 - 2 1/2 hour
Breastfed - sleeps 11-12 hours, wakes up once after 7-12 hours.

  5. I'm curious - when you say she sleeps in bed with you, what exactly is the set up? When Sofia is with us, it's usually in a sleep positioner right next to one of us. But sometimes, she's sort of in my arms (I don't sleep well like that) and sometimes, Russ has her sleeping on his chest. Just wondering what you do.
I am no help with the feeding schedule since we don't BF anymore, but Sofia has been taking a bottle pretty regularlt every 3-4 hours and can go longer at night. Naps are random too.
And you're right - we're learning more about them everyday and even though you feel like you don't know what you're doing, you actually DO! No one knows Paisley like you do. =)

  6. I always feel like a schedule helps. Not necessarily drill Sergent like schedule just something you try your hardest to keep eating and sleeping around the same times each day. Its good for the child as well I feel.
As far as working out go's, good for you. Hopefully you keep up with it. You will loose the weight quickly, you'll be surprised. Good luck with everything :)

  7. I like having a schedule because it makes life a little more predictable. I know when is the best time to run errands, I know when she cries if she is hungry or just sleepy, it just helps give me some peace of mind.

The book I read emphasized waking up at the same time every morning. She wakes up at 6:30 (partly because I'm a morning person, and partly because it works best on the days I work), and then from that time I feed her every 3 to 3 & 1/2 hours.

Can you believe how fast the time is passing?! Crazy!

  8. My kids both settled into their own little routines around 3 months (for sleeping and eating). It helped me to write down when they ate, slept, etc. for a few days. Turned out they were on a somewhat predictable schedule, I just didn't realize it!

It is so nice once you can start anticipating what they might need, like you said. It makes things so.much.easier! As you two keep getting to know each other, you'll be on a schedule soon. -Michelle

  9. Congrats on the weight loss! As long as Paisley is happy and healthy, your schedule and sleep style must be just the perfect one for her and for you! :)

Meet Our Little Miracle, Paisley Kate

The post I have been waiting 2 years to write is finally here and I can't really believe it. On Saturday, I woke up at 8:30 a.m. with BAD contractions. By the 2nd one, I knew I was in "real" labor. They were SO different than the braxton-hicks. I got out of bed and decided that I'd take a bath, until water ran down both legs. The pain after that got pretty unbearable immediately and I was having contractions every 2 1/2 to 3 minutes. So, I called Aaron at work to tell him it was "the big day". He decided I was kidding until I nearly leapt through the phone to wring his neck. :) We got to the hospital an hour later and I was dilated to a 4 and having very active contractions. They quickly got me moved to an L&D room. I got my epidural ( AMAZING - we'll talk about this in its own post soon) at a 6 and then my doctor broke my water. (Apparently at home, it had just leaked a pocket of fluid). After he broke my water, labor started picking up

The Resurrection

So here we are.  It's now a blog graveyard.  The followers have long since moved on and infertility is something that I've somewhat put in the past (only considering I don't want any more kids).  So why am I here and writing again?  What's the purpose?   This was my safe place.  It was where I came when everything seemed much too hard and I needed to feel comfort.  I wanted to express myself in a venue that others would reassure me and even understand me.  I still love and have always loved this blog.  It guided me during some of the hardest years of my life, dealing with infertility and miscarriage. And you know... I guess it will help me again now.  Because life is freaking TOUGH.  You know the phrase "I've went through Hell and back"?  Yeah, I feel that in my soul now.  I could have a blowout in the middle lane of the highway during rush hour traffic, manage to pull over my car on the side and call for roadside assistance without my pulse increasing ev

I'm Going to Let You in on a Little Secret

My dear blog readers, Those of you who know me well know that I do not keep secrets. It's actually physically impossible for me to keep a secret. So, it's going to really surprise many of you to find out that I've been staying silent about something pretty big. So, without further ado, I'd like to introduce you to the little miracle that came into our lives 13 weeks ago: We wanted to keep it to ourselves for a while to make sure things went okay this time. It's been a very terrifying 13 weeks and we are just now starting to feel that things could actually go well. We feel incredibly blessed to be pregnant with this baby and we are so grateful for every minute. To my friends who are still battling infertility , I'm not even sure where to start. You've been there with me through it all. You've held my hand and given me a shoulder to cry on when times are tough. You always know the right things to say because you've been there before. And you pray and
