Working Girls (Not the Prostitute Kind)

Paisley and I have jumped head-first into the work world and we're surviving just fine.  We worked all day Monday and Tuesday, yesterday was our day off and we're back at it today.  She likes being at the clinic and I love being with her, so it seems to work out.  She didn't sleep great on Monday night, and I found out one of the biggest benefits as owner of a business.  I didn't go in at 8, Aaron told me to sleep later and come in once we got up.  :)

The clinic is doing well so far.  January and February are always the slowest months which is scary since we're just getting started, but if we can make it through these two- we'll be fine.  I've really enjoyed getting to meet the clients and their pets, and I've gotten to see a couple of cool surgeries already.  Plus, I made it through a euthanasia the other day without crying.  That's a huge accomplishment for me!  I do wish the dead dog freezer could be in another room besides my office...

Speaking of my office, it is pretty much Paisley's room.  I have two exersaucers, an alphabet play mat, an eight-sided colorful play yard, and lots of toys. With the help of some awesome friends and family we got most everything painted and decorated!  I will post pictures this week, it's just been crazy trying to get settled in to our new roles!

I miss being at home with her because that was such special bonding time, but I'm SO glad we're still together and I'm actually able to do something productive at the same time.  Plus, we have to make enough money to buy her Baby Gap clothes!!!

  1. Congratulations on the big step! I'm so proud of you both! I wish I lived closer to you because my dog needs surgery to remove her anal sacs because she will not stop scooting no matter how much we clean them (not me, the vet tech)! :)

  2. Yeah, girl, I'd say you've got it pretty good! What an awesome set up. Though I can't imagine that dead dog freezer, but I suppose it's just a reality of the job. Can't wait to see pics! (of the office, not the dead dogs!)

  3. Sounds like a pretty awesome set-up! It's always good to have an "in" with the boss! ;)
I'm so glad both you and Paisley are adjusting so well. How awesome to grow up surrounded by your folks and animals! :)

  5. That girl of yours has more cute clothes than any baby on the internet, but affording Baby Gap can't hurt!

  6. I would really like it if you could email me at some point. DH and I just moved (well, in August, but it still seems very new to us) to SW OKC/Moore and need a good vet for our dog. Also would love to chat w/you about everything, since (I think) we live really close to each other and (I know) have the same RE.

Email is sanelson79@gmail.com and I'd just LOVE to hear from you :)

Also, have to say, Paisley is just gorgeous and you could totally put her in rags and she'd still be the cutest baby ever!!

Meet Our Little Miracle, Paisley Kate

The post I have been waiting 2 years to write is finally here and I can't really believe it. On Saturday, I woke up at 8:30 a.m. with BAD contractions. By the 2nd one, I knew I was in "real" labor. They were SO different than the braxton-hicks. I got out of bed and decided that I'd take a bath, until water ran down both legs. The pain after that got pretty unbearable immediately and I was having contractions every 2 1/2 to 3 minutes. So, I called Aaron at work to tell him it was "the big day". He decided I was kidding until I nearly leapt through the phone to wring his neck. :) We got to the hospital an hour later and I was dilated to a 4 and having very active contractions. They quickly got me moved to an L&D room. I got my epidural ( AMAZING - we'll talk about this in its own post soon) at a 6 and then my doctor broke my water. (Apparently at home, it had just leaked a pocket of fluid). After he broke my water, labor started picking up ...

The Resurrection

So here we are.  It's now a blog graveyard.  The followers have long since moved on and infertility is something that I've somewhat put in the past (only considering I don't want any more kids).  So why am I here and writing again?  What's the purpose?   This was my safe place.  It was where I came when everything seemed much too hard and I needed to feel comfort.  I wanted to express myself in a venue that others would reassure me and even understand me.  I still love and have always loved this blog.  It guided me during some of the hardest years of my life, dealing with infertility and miscarriage. And you know... I guess it will help me again now.  Because life is freaking TOUGH.  You know the phrase "I've went through Hell and back"?  Yeah, I feel that in my soul now.  I could have a blowout in the middle lane of the highway during rush hour traffic, manage to pull over my car on the side and call for roadsi...

Santa Claus

I miss blogging.  It's just that I'm trying to minimalize the busy-ness in my life right now because the holidays always make me overwhelmed.  Like I get a bit crazy.  All the gift-giving, shopping, parties, family, friends, drama, food, etc.  Sounds fun to most people but I just do better with simple.   And that word hasn't described my life since giving birth 3 years ago.  Sooo, I go missing from time to time, but I keep up with everyone else's blogs!   This was my mom's attempt at a Christmas card with the kids.  It looks like they were decently enjoying it but the truth is both kids were having fits for absolutely no reason.  She used it anyways. My ornery little stud-muffin playing on the stairs. Graham having a VERY rare fit.  I had to capture the moment. Sweet sibling time in pajamas.  Times like this one melt my heart and make me feel good about my decision to have two kids. Graham was tota...
