Update

I have no idea what crawled up my butt and died yesterday, but I obviously woke up on the wrong side of the bed!!!  I'm just so nervous that something will go wrong with breatfeeding and my baby will choose to starve rather than take a b-o-t-t-l-e.  We don't say the forbidden word around here these days because she hates even the sight of it.

Oh, and in case anyone thought that maybe we should try to give her formula in a bottle just to change things up...  Not a good idea.  She immediately projectile vomited all over her nursery and her daddy without even drinking any.  Live and learn...

Someone mentioned a sippy cup and I've definitely thought about using it in the near future.  We have already tried spoonfeeding, using a medicine dropper, and tried a syringe (without the needle.)  And I should mention that I realize how incredibly lucky I am to have a baby who takes so well to breastfeeding.  And that I was able to quit my job and stay home longer, because daycare would pull their hair out trying to feed this one!

Thanks to the person who suggested the nursing tank tops. I LOVE them!!!  They make it so much easier and keep me from revealing everything.  Having a blog is the best way to get great suggestions!!!  Now, someone tell me how in the world to get this baby to sleep when I lay her down and I owe you everything!!!

  1. Would you consider swaddling her and using a white noise maker when you put her down for sleep? Good luck.

  2. When you figure out the laying her down to nap thing....PLEASE let me know too! :P We do the swaddling and use the Sleep Sheep, but nothing. Boo. Though, he's a great night sleeper, so not sure if that has anything to do with it...

  3. Hey, it's your job to get everything figured out quickly so that when my baby arrives you'll have all the answers for me! Glad you're feeling a bit better today.

  4. When you figure out that sleeping thing, you let me know, OK? =)

When you used the syringe, did you use your finger too, so that she had something to suck on? That's how we started supplementing formula way back when and it worked well except then she wanted to suck my finger all day, but we finally got her on a pacifier.

You're allowed to have days when you have to vent - we all do. No apologies.

  5. There is ALWAYS something to worry about! Why is that? I feel like it steals the joy out of the season in life. I was worried E was TOO big because almost all my friends had babies who were 10 pounds at the 2 month mark.

I don't know what to tell you about the bottle friend. Good luck with that.

We actually lay E on her belly for naps with her pacifier and she sleeps like a champ. We have definitely let her cry it several times (checking on her in 5 minute intervals) and she figured it out pretty quickly. At night we swaddle her after she is pretty asleep. If she is awake she fights it. Who knows though. I know every baby is different though and what works for one doesn't work for another...that would be too easy. :)

  6. Swaddle, swaddle, swaddle. Wrap her tight, so tight you think she will pop. Use swaddling blankets only, not receiving because they aren't stretchy and often made of flannel and fleece which is a huge no-no, breathable cotton. Seriously, wrap that girl tight. Aden and Anais make some nice ones that are big enough to grow with them or if you're like me and lack the burrito wrapping skill, a woombie is awesome.

  8. I was right with ya on that last post. They change every day it seems, and just when you feel like you can handle it, they change again. Just because we're exhausted and sometimes frustrated, doesn't mean we don't appreciate them and love them to pieces!

If you can figure out how to get them to stay asleep when you lay them down, let me know:). I use the Miracle Blanket at night and it is the ONLY blanket he can't get out of. He gets out of his Aden and Anais ones that another person suggested below. If you google Miracle Blanket, you'll find it. He sleeps the easiest and longest swaddled. Even when I put him down at night and he wakes up, he still goes back to sleep on his own (with me putting paci in a few times:)). But, every day is different for us - sometimes he'll stay asleep during the day without being held, other days he just refuses! Good luck, girl! Before you know it, this phase will pass and another one will be upon us:).

Meet Our Little Miracle, Paisley Kate

The post I have been waiting 2 years to write is finally here and I can't really believe it. On Saturday, I woke up at 8:30 a.m. with BAD contractions. By the 2nd one, I knew I was in "real" labor. They were SO different than the braxton-hicks. I got out of bed and decided that I'd take a bath, until water ran down both legs. The pain after that got pretty unbearable immediately and I was having contractions every 2 1/2 to 3 minutes. So, I called Aaron at work to tell him it was "the big day". He decided I was kidding until I nearly leapt through the phone to wring his neck. :) We got to the hospital an hour later and I was dilated to a 4 and having very active contractions. They quickly got me moved to an L&D room. I got my epidural ( AMAZING - we'll talk about this in its own post soon) at a 6 and then my doctor broke my water. (Apparently at home, it had just leaked a pocket of fluid). After he broke my water, labor started picking up

The Resurrection

So here we are.  It's now a blog graveyard.  The followers have long since moved on and infertility is something that I've somewhat put in the past (only considering I don't want any more kids).  So why am I here and writing again?  What's the purpose?   This was my safe place.  It was where I came when everything seemed much too hard and I needed to feel comfort.  I wanted to express myself in a venue that others would reassure me and even understand me.  I still love and have always loved this blog.  It guided me during some of the hardest years of my life, dealing with infertility and miscarriage. And you know... I guess it will help me again now.  Because life is freaking TOUGH.  You know the phrase "I've went through Hell and back"?  Yeah, I feel that in my soul now.  I could have a blowout in the middle lane of the highway during rush hour traffic, manage to pull over my car on the side and call for roadside assistance without my pulse increasing ev

I'm Going to Let You in on a Little Secret

My dear blog readers, Those of you who know me well know that I do not keep secrets. It's actually physically impossible for me to keep a secret. So, it's going to really surprise many of you to find out that I've been staying silent about something pretty big. So, without further ado, I'd like to introduce you to the little miracle that came into our lives 13 weeks ago: We wanted to keep it to ourselves for a while to make sure things went okay this time. It's been a very terrifying 13 weeks and we are just now starting to feel that things could actually go well. We feel incredibly blessed to be pregnant with this baby and we are so grateful for every minute. To my friends who are still battling infertility , I'm not even sure where to start. You've been there with me through it all. You've held my hand and given me a shoulder to cry on when times are tough. You always know the right things to say because you've been there before. And you pray and
