BIG baby

Today's OB visit and ultrasound were interesting.  First of all, they are giving me two-thumbs up for travel and are just deciding now whether they think anti-malarials are really worth it since malaria is such a low risk in that area.  And also which bug spray will be safe for me to prevent mosquito bites.  Otherwise, no issues so I'm on my way to the beach!!!   Unfortunately, the bikini body is currently MIA but I'll still be stuffing myself into them.

Especially considering that again on ultrasound today, Baby Deuce is measuring over 2 weeks ahead.  I should be 24w and 2d, yet I measure 26w and 3d in EVERY area they measure.  And two weeks ago, I was measuring 2 weeks ahead.  So, Baby is large.  And apparently, so is my belly.   It was the 1st visit where we measured fundal height and are you ready for a shocker?

I measure 27 weeks.  Fantabulous.  For those who are REALLY bad at math, 3 weeks ahead of schedule.  Which is not totally surprising to me considering how much my belly has grown recently.  And I feel like this child is taking up every square inch of my torso already.  I'll have simultaneous kicks to my ribs on both sides and by my bladder.  It's quite impressive.

I can't do the glucose test this pregnancy because it nearly killed me last time.  My glucose was 29 last time and I made them draw my blood at 45 minutes because I couldn't wait any longer.  SO, they have me doing finger sticks about 8 times a week and were starting to suspect gestational diabetes due to this baby's size and my PCOS, but my first 2 sticks have been well within the normal range!  Hooray!!!

Great news: the cord was nowhere near the neck today!!!  Plus, my placenta is way far away from my cervix (no previa here) and my cervix is still over 4 and sealed like Fort Knox.  Which is great considering that it is solely responsible for holding in a mammoth-sized baby!  :)

Now, the real question is how on earth do you think I can give birth to this baby?  Paisley was 7 pounds, 9 ounces and left me ripped apart with a giant episiotomy that was less-than-pleasant for a while.  And she always measured right on schedule...  Let's shoot for a July baby!

  1. All good news!! So happy things are going well. As for giving birth - what's a pound here or there gonna do?! LOL! I also had the horrific episiotomy, not fun! But...so worth it:).

  2. July babies are perfect :) I have no doubt, you'll give birth like a champ... even to a mammoth baby ;)
On a side note... I used (and still use) the linen type blankets since Roman was born in July and it was smokin' hot outside. I still use them now and they are great!! My favorite brand is the Aden and Anais.

  3. Don't worry about GD. I measured roughly 2 weeks ahead as well and docs were convinced I had GD, but I passed with flying colors. We might just make big babies!

Meet Our Little Miracle, Paisley Kate

The post I have been waiting 2 years to write is finally here and I can't really believe it. On Saturday, I woke up at 8:30 a.m. with BAD contractions. By the 2nd one, I knew I was in "real" labor. They were SO different than the braxton-hicks. I got out of bed and decided that I'd take a bath, until water ran down both legs. The pain after that got pretty unbearable immediately and I was having contractions every 2 1/2 to 3 minutes. So, I called Aaron at work to tell him it was "the big day". He decided I was kidding until I nearly leapt through the phone to wring his neck. :) We got to the hospital an hour later and I was dilated to a 4 and having very active contractions. They quickly got me moved to an L&D room. I got my epidural ( AMAZING - we'll talk about this in its own post soon) at a 6 and then my doctor broke my water. (Apparently at home, it had just leaked a pocket of fluid). After he broke my water, labor started picking up ...
It has been WAY too long since I’ve posted here and I’m eager to rejoin the blogging world!!!  The kids are 5 and 7 and super fun, I’m working at a medspa doing injectables and lasers full time and I’m 14 years in to marriage now.   But here’s where life has now lead me!  I have been driven to do a medical mission trip over the past few weeks and I’m very set on Haiti.  Yes, they are currently having a temper tantrum over the increased fuel prices which they definitely can’t afford, but that country needs help!!!!!   So, I’m here to tell my story of how this all goes!  I’ll need lots of prayers and support in this crazy endeavor!

Blogging Failure

The fact that I blog less than I exercise is not a good sign.  I miss you all.  And I'm glad to be where I'm at because the problem is that my cup runneth over.  Life is crazy.  The kids are growing and becoming real people and exploring and I'm still struggling to figure out how to parent a VERY challenging 3-year-old. Dear Paisley is actually quite a joy to raise.  She is spunky and energetic and funny.  We desperately struggle to stifle our laughter as we discipline her for things that I never expected her to do or say.  She is the center of attention and loves her baby brother like there's no tomorrow.  I've never met a more opinionated and divalicious child though.  She picks every piece of clothing she wears, which toy she brings in the car, exactly what she is willing to eat, how her hair is fixed, which door she uses to get in the car, etc.  I hear you out there judging me.  I would have to until I gave birth to Whitney ...
