The Dreaded Gym Nursery

This week I started back to the gym.  Or I should say that I tried to start back.   But you might remember that Miss Paisley never much liked the gym nursery.  She'd always decide to need to nurse or poop every time I'd put her in there.  Which always resulted in me getting drug away from my exercise class or machine to tend to her.  While disgustingly sweaty and with a heartrate of 160.

But it's been 3 months.  She's much more confident these days and doesn't mind strangers at all.  I know she loves playing with other kids and can walk around now.  So, this was going to be much better.  Let's face it, the milk factory shut down 5 months ago and she poops like once a day.  Surely we could make it through a step class.

The dropping off part was easy.  She actually took off across the room and began playing with a toy like it was the coolest thing she'd ever seen even though it's one we have at home that she ignores.  Funny how that works.  So I went to my class feeling amazed that she did SO well.

And about 25 minutes later, I get the dreaded gesture from the doorway that signaled me to leave class.  My baby was obviously having a meltdown.  And with my head held low, I hurried my way across the gym to rescue my poor baby from that bright, colorful, toy-filled room where a nursery attendant was trying desperately to comfort her.

One second in my sweaty arms and she was fine.  She even wanted to show me around in there and continue playing.  She just didn't want me to miss out, I guess.  So, I'll try again next week.  And maybe the week after that.   Eventually, this girl is going to work out again on a regular basis.  And that little stinker is going to realize that the gym nursery is F-U-N.

Side note:  not a good sign that my legs are actually sore today after only working out for 25 minutes.  :)

  1. Maybe you can invest in a cardboard cut-out of your self to place in he nursery :) JK Im sure it will get better! Its kind of like regular daycare the first few weeks are rough and then all is well! :)

  3. Oh, and THANK YOU for commenting and telling me what Paisley was doing with her anger:). Honestly, I was getting really worried - like maybe something was wrong with Jax. I know it's crazy. But he has some mental health history in his birth family and of course my head went straight there! Wish I wasn't such a worry wart! But, hearing that my 1 year old is not the only one who gets really angry helped SO much! Thank you!

  4. At least you got 25 minutes in, right? :) No seriously, I admire you for 1. going to the gym and 2. leaving her in the nursery. It's definitely not easy...even when they're one...and especially since you know there is a chance you'll get called out. I feel slightly nervous every time we leave E in the church nursery they're going to have to come find us. And in answer to your question, I will be working with the hospitalist group at the hospital. Interesting, huh? :)

  5. You are so good! I just can't get motivated to get back on the treadmill. I'm trying to get Davie to make it through a whole church service in the nursery. She's slowly getting better - we didn't get called out of the service 'til the very end last Sunday! I'm hoping if we just keep consistently going, she'll get more comfortable spending time with other people than family.

Meet Our Little Miracle, Paisley Kate

The post I have been waiting 2 years to write is finally here and I can't really believe it. On Saturday, I woke up at 8:30 a.m. with BAD contractions. By the 2nd one, I knew I was in "real" labor. They were SO different than the braxton-hicks. I got out of bed and decided that I'd take a bath, until water ran down both legs. The pain after that got pretty unbearable immediately and I was having contractions every 2 1/2 to 3 minutes. So, I called Aaron at work to tell him it was "the big day". He decided I was kidding until I nearly leapt through the phone to wring his neck. :) We got to the hospital an hour later and I was dilated to a 4 and having very active contractions. They quickly got me moved to an L&D room. I got my epidural ( AMAZING - we'll talk about this in its own post soon) at a 6 and then my doctor broke my water. (Apparently at home, it had just leaked a pocket of fluid). After he broke my water, labor started picking up

The Resurrection

So here we are.  It's now a blog graveyard.  The followers have long since moved on and infertility is something that I've somewhat put in the past (only considering I don't want any more kids).  So why am I here and writing again?  What's the purpose?   This was my safe place.  It was where I came when everything seemed much too hard and I needed to feel comfort.  I wanted to express myself in a venue that others would reassure me and even understand me.  I still love and have always loved this blog.  It guided me during some of the hardest years of my life, dealing with infertility and miscarriage. And you know... I guess it will help me again now.  Because life is freaking TOUGH.  You know the phrase "I've went through Hell and back"?  Yeah, I feel that in my soul now.  I could have a blowout in the middle lane of the highway during rush hour traffic, manage to pull over my car on the side and call for roadside assistance without my pulse increasing ev

I'm Going to Let You in on a Little Secret

My dear blog readers, Those of you who know me well know that I do not keep secrets. It's actually physically impossible for me to keep a secret. So, it's going to really surprise many of you to find out that I've been staying silent about something pretty big. So, without further ado, I'd like to introduce you to the little miracle that came into our lives 13 weeks ago: We wanted to keep it to ourselves for a while to make sure things went okay this time. It's been a very terrifying 13 weeks and we are just now starting to feel that things could actually go well. We feel incredibly blessed to be pregnant with this baby and we are so grateful for every minute. To my friends who are still battling infertility , I'm not even sure where to start. You've been there with me through it all. You've held my hand and given me a shoulder to cry on when times are tough. You always know the right things to say because you've been there before. And you pray and
