Wish these kids came with a manual

When you get a new car or appliance or toy, it comes with instructions on assembly and parts and operation. And most importantly, it has troubleshooting. This is what I need in order to raise these kids. A guide to troubleshooting.

Paisley decided she would start sleeping in her big girl bed this week, right after I decided to get a 2nd crib. She has done it three nights now and is sleeping through the night really well. I am thrilled with this and graham is now sleeping in his room which is great instead of in the Hello Kitty room. :)

But as easily as bed transitioning happened, potty training is making me crazy. I would love to be back in diapers 100% at this point but she frequently takes them off and either goes commando or puts on her panties.

Great right? Not so much. The kid is great holding it all night long and through naps. She even does well at baby gym and other outings. But she has taken to peeing on my carpet. I feel like she just doesn't care.

She used to start to pee and get upset and hurry to the toilet. Now she just lets it rip and then acts super offended when I make her change clothes because they're wet. Like I peed in her pants. So I try to explain that big girls don't pee on the floor and she'll start with the same questions every time. "How about poop on the floor?" "How about pee-pee on you?" "How about pee-pee in the kitchen?"

Ummm, no. How about you just use your determination and stubbornness to sit your tiny tushy on your potty and let it rip?

And this isn't because she gets too distracted to go. She could be bored to death and still just pee when we're at home. She remembers when we're out somewhere having fun. Go figure.

  1. I cold not agree more. Whenever Avery is having a bad day I assume she is teething. She should have 900 teeth by now.

Yuck, potty training sounds awful. People keep asking me if I am going to start now that Avery is 18 months. Hell no. I will go until she is 3 if she isn't ready. It sounds like one long battle and my little girl is too strong willed for me to fight with that long.

  2. Great news on the the new sleeping arrangements. Not so great news that she is marking her territory on the carpet lol Ohhh potty training sounds so hard! Not looking forward to it! This too shall pass...eventually! :)

  3. It's almost impossible to control once the take off their own diaper. Even if we duct taped it on Davie would still get out of it. Her favorite spots are the bathroom rug and the corner between my dresser and the wall. Do you think it would help if I put a litter box there? ;)
