Boy or Girl???

I decided to have a wild and crazy time this morning and look online at gender predictor tests. Early on I did a couple, but couldn't answer many of the questions yet. I think the take-home point here is that maybe, just maybe, they don't actually mean crap. Let's talk about some of the ways you should know if it's a boy or a girl:

1.) Sleeping in a bed with my pillow to the south means it's a girl. What they don't take into consideration is that we don't have another option. If we put our bed on the opposite wall, it would be blocking both our doorway and our bathroom. And what if your pillow is to the east or west? Does that just not happen?

2.) Your urine is a dull yellow color so you should expect a girl. Umm... maybe it's just because I come from a medical background, but I'm pretty sure it's because I'm well-hydrated. If I don't drink enough water, guess what happens? My urine is brighter yellow, which I guess means that I'm then having a boy. So, your hydration level determines the gender. You want a girl, drink a lot of water...

3.) Your baby's heartrate has been below 140, so it's a boy. I actually had a hard time even answering this because the heartrate has been all over the place. We've had numbers all around the 130's and 140's, but it's been as high as 160. So I'm throwing this one out too!

4.) I'm carrying low and out front, so it's a boy. It hasn't always been incredibly low, I kinda thought it was in the middle for most of the pregnancy. Now, it looks like the baby is trying to just fall out. But I did gain my weight all in the belly, so I guess it's a boy. Or I'm just very lucky.

5.) Your feet are not colder than before pregnancy, so it's a girl. You know what it is? It's August in Oklahoma and the temperature has been over 100 degrees for a LONG time. Nobody should have cold feet right now!

6.) Not sure how this one even played in because it doesn't mention it in the results, but it asked how I feel about orange juice. The choices are "doesn't like OJ" or "must have it every day". Now, I'm a big fan of OJ, but it's not like I get out of bed in the morning going through withdrawal for it. Can I not get a choice of "likes it, but not in an excessive way." Apparently, they don't even know how it factors in to gender prediction, they were just curious!

You want me to let you on the super-accurate results of these tests? Well, childbirth.org gave us a 56% chance of a girl. Babyzone.com says it could be a boy. Pregnancy.com goes with a 50-50 chance either way. And according to the chinese gender chart, it's a girl. So, it looks like no one is too willing to commit either way! Or maybe my body is just really confusing. Must be the PCOS, makes it hard to predict ovulation and now gender!

And even you, my dear blog readers, are pretty split on the gender poll. Girl votes have always been slightly higher than boys, but it's stayed pretty even all along. I'm getting so excited to find out for sure, and it actually makes my heart race every time I imagine the doctor announcing, "IT'S A ___!!!"

  1. I love all your "research"!! I actually found that the chinese gender chart was accurate for myself and 3 of my friends...and my guess for you is GIRL!

  2. That's all so crazy!! I think the chinese chart said I was having a boy and that's wrong...is there really a way to tell? Don't think so...but you'll know for sure really, really, really SOON!!!

  3. I love that you waited to find out! That's what we would have done if we'd had one (with 4 we needed to have a little advance warning haha). It will be so incredible when you find out in the delivery room. It will only add to the sweetness of that moment of first meeting your baby!

  4. Makes me laugh that the tests say you have a 50-50 chance or 56% chance of girl...so profound! The Chinese test was actually right for us (I didn't do it but my mom did), so we'll see if it's right again. But my guess for you is boy. But it could be a girl too. :)

  5. The technology wasn't there when I had my first two kids but I had amnio with third and so wanted to know the sex. I hate surprises!!! Good for you though- I just couldn't do it and same with my married daughter. You have so much happiness ahead of you. Good luck with the delivery.

  6. I love that they mainly give a 50/50 chance. I could write my own sex prediction test if that's as accurate as I need to be!

  7. Well since 2 out of 3 of the very scientific gender tests said girl, then that's probably what it is. With those odds you are at least up to 66.6% chance of them being right. :)

  8. Lol, I had twins, a boy and a girl so I always found the predictors funny.

  9. I never believed those gender tests either.
I still say boy for you but I have no idea what I'm talking about so don't take anything I say to heart. :)

  10. A nurse at the clinic where I work did the pen on a string test over her daughter's belly, and it was right! Something about if it swings clockwise or opposite it'd tell you the gender. She predicted a boy and it was! :)
BTW, I think all theses tests are fun but are all crap at predicting! :)

  11. my chinese gender chart thing said boy...and some other one had said girl.

and we're having a girl. so i don't know how much weight I'd give to those tests but atleast they are amusing right?!

Just imagine you'll know very soon.

Meet Our Little Miracle, Paisley Kate

The post I have been waiting 2 years to write is finally here and I can't really believe it. On Saturday, I woke up at 8:30 a.m. with BAD contractions. By the 2nd one, I knew I was in "real" labor. They were SO different than the braxton-hicks. I got out of bed and decided that I'd take a bath, until water ran down both legs. The pain after that got pretty unbearable immediately and I was having contractions every 2 1/2 to 3 minutes. So, I called Aaron at work to tell him it was "the big day". He decided I was kidding until I nearly leapt through the phone to wring his neck. :) We got to the hospital an hour later and I was dilated to a 4 and having very active contractions. They quickly got me moved to an L&D room. I got my epidural ( AMAZING - we'll talk about this in its own post soon) at a 6 and then my doctor broke my water. (Apparently at home, it had just leaked a pocket of fluid). After he broke my water, labor started picking up

The Resurrection

So here we are.  It's now a blog graveyard.  The followers have long since moved on and infertility is something that I've somewhat put in the past (only considering I don't want any more kids).  So why am I here and writing again?  What's the purpose?   This was my safe place.  It was where I came when everything seemed much too hard and I needed to feel comfort.  I wanted to express myself in a venue that others would reassure me and even understand me.  I still love and have always loved this blog.  It guided me during some of the hardest years of my life, dealing with infertility and miscarriage. And you know... I guess it will help me again now.  Because life is freaking TOUGH.  You know the phrase "I've went through Hell and back"?  Yeah, I feel that in my soul now.  I could have a blowout in the middle lane of the highway during rush hour traffic, manage to pull over my car on the side and call for roadside assistance without my pulse increasing ev

I'm Going to Let You in on a Little Secret

My dear blog readers, Those of you who know me well know that I do not keep secrets. It's actually physically impossible for me to keep a secret. So, it's going to really surprise many of you to find out that I've been staying silent about something pretty big. So, without further ado, I'd like to introduce you to the little miracle that came into our lives 13 weeks ago: We wanted to keep it to ourselves for a while to make sure things went okay this time. It's been a very terrifying 13 weeks and we are just now starting to feel that things could actually go well. We feel incredibly blessed to be pregnant with this baby and we are so grateful for every minute. To my friends who are still battling infertility , I'm not even sure where to start. You've been there with me through it all. You've held my hand and given me a shoulder to cry on when times are tough. You always know the right things to say because you've been there before. And you pray and
