Our Poor, Overwhelmed DVR

My husband is a certified pack-rat. He likes to keep everything. His hotmail account always has about 150 e-mails at a given time even if he's read them, he refuses to throw away a single piece of mail, everything that enters his life is a "collectible", and our DVR is swamped with shows he just might watch again. (Quote: "That episode of So You Think You Can Dance had a really cool routine. I might want to watch it again.")

Keep in mind that we watch a lot of shows the same day or pretty soon after, such as Desperate Housewives, Amazing Race, Bachelor, etc. (And yes, he watches all of those with me.) So those aren't even on the DVR for long.

Our DVR currently contains the following:
  • 4 hours of Grey's Anatomy
  • The Haiti telethon (already watched it)
  • 1 episode of Private Practice (we never watch it)
  • 2 Real World/Road Rules Challenges
  • 4 episodes of So You Think You Can Dance (which hasn't been on in about 4 months)
  • The People's Choice Awards (can you say "boring"?)
  • 12 episodes of Ellen (He records it, not me. Although I do like it.)
  • 4 hours of The Biggest Loser (Hate this show, they cry too much)
  • 1 episode of The View (I would never record this show. My husband is also "metro".)
  • The American Music Awards from 2 months ago (we need counseling)
  • The MTV Music Awards from 4 months ago (definitely an addiction)

As you can see, this is a real problem. Especially since I'm one of those Type A/ obsessive/ compulsive types that always has an empty e-mail account, would prefer to throw away everything rather than keep it, and love a much less full DVR. Not one for clutter, you might say.

So, I guess I'm curious. What does everyone else have on their DVR's? Who is the normal one here, me or him?

  1. LOL You guys are too funny!
Right now my DVR is kinda on the empty side but that's probably because we recently got Fioz, before that I had several So You Think You Can Dance episodes. BUT we tend to erase most shows right after we watch it, so you are the normal one =)

  2. I did have the Rose Parade from New Years this past week but I finally got around to watching it :)

  3. Robert keeps all the OU football games, which let me remind you are 4 hours a piece. I get so mad at him because there are times my shows won't record because there is not enough space. Needless to say I have "accidentally" erased some of them. If Aaron didn't read this blog I would say do the same. So Aaron if some come up missing, forget this comment!

  4. Too funny that your hubby watches so you think you can dance. I love that show.
We have ridiculous amounts of shows on our dvr and what really bugs me is some nights, Like Monday night I have more than just two channels with shows on them and only one dvr that only lets you record two channels at one time. I watch the channel 6 line up Accidentally on purpose, how I met your mother, two and a half men, the big bang theory, I watch the cw. Gossip girl, one tree hill, and the bachelor on channel 8. I have to pick and choose every week which one not to record. Its not fun.
We watch desperate and grey's and private practice. I even like to record the Kardashians. I like Americas next top model. So many. Its ok. We are like you guys our dvr is ridiculous. ALL THE TIME!

  5. My wife is a big Jerk/Crap Licker! She's always erasing, complaining, throwing things away, complaining some more. If I wasn't the way that I am then she would have nothing to do when she wasn't always asleep!

  6. You two are so funny!!! We erase them once we watch them. However I have at least 10 episodes of Ax Men that Adam has yet to watch - I too "accidentally" erase his shows sometimes!

  7. Currently:
    American Idol (Trent's)
    Howe and Howe Tech (Trent's)
    Top Ten Combat Rifles (Trent's)
College Basketball (Trent's, noticing a DVR hog trend here?)

At the moment we are getting a free trial of "The Military Channel" There for Trent feels a compulsion to record every top ten hand grenade, sniper training school and a day in the life of a Navy Seal type of show there is.....super annoying!!!!!

Usually both of us erase a show as soon as we watch it, sorry Moose ; )

Meet Our Little Miracle, Paisley Kate

The post I have been waiting 2 years to write is finally here and I can't really believe it. On Saturday, I woke up at 8:30 a.m. with BAD contractions. By the 2nd one, I knew I was in "real" labor. They were SO different than the braxton-hicks. I got out of bed and decided that I'd take a bath, until water ran down both legs. The pain after that got pretty unbearable immediately and I was having contractions every 2 1/2 to 3 minutes. So, I called Aaron at work to tell him it was "the big day". He decided I was kidding until I nearly leapt through the phone to wring his neck. :) We got to the hospital an hour later and I was dilated to a 4 and having very active contractions. They quickly got me moved to an L&D room. I got my epidural ( AMAZING - we'll talk about this in its own post soon) at a 6 and then my doctor broke my water. (Apparently at home, it had just leaked a pocket of fluid). After he broke my water, labor started picking up

The Resurrection

So here we are.  It's now a blog graveyard.  The followers have long since moved on and infertility is something that I've somewhat put in the past (only considering I don't want any more kids).  So why am I here and writing again?  What's the purpose?   This was my safe place.  It was where I came when everything seemed much too hard and I needed to feel comfort.  I wanted to express myself in a venue that others would reassure me and even understand me.  I still love and have always loved this blog.  It guided me during some of the hardest years of my life, dealing with infertility and miscarriage. And you know... I guess it will help me again now.  Because life is freaking TOUGH.  You know the phrase "I've went through Hell and back"?  Yeah, I feel that in my soul now.  I could have a blowout in the middle lane of the highway during rush hour traffic, manage to pull over my car on the side and call for roadside assistance without my pulse increasing ev

I'm Going to Let You in on a Little Secret

My dear blog readers, Those of you who know me well know that I do not keep secrets. It's actually physically impossible for me to keep a secret. So, it's going to really surprise many of you to find out that I've been staying silent about something pretty big. So, without further ado, I'd like to introduce you to the little miracle that came into our lives 13 weeks ago: We wanted to keep it to ourselves for a while to make sure things went okay this time. It's been a very terrifying 13 weeks and we are just now starting to feel that things could actually go well. We feel incredibly blessed to be pregnant with this baby and we are so grateful for every minute. To my friends who are still battling infertility , I'm not even sure where to start. You've been there with me through it all. You've held my hand and given me a shoulder to cry on when times are tough. You always know the right things to say because you've been there before. And you pray and
