Future Veterinarian?

Paisley's been going to work with her daddy on Tuesdays (with her clingy mom in tow). She loves it at the clinic! She stays awake most of the time we're there and soaks up all the attention she gets.

I should follow up on my previous post about my "postpartum depression". I don't feel like it's fair to say I had a full-blown case of postpartum, considering it was really only 3-4 episodes of tearfulness/worry/feeling overwhelmed that lasted at most an hour each. Mine was completely attributed to sleep deprivation. I know some women have it much worse and I do not want anyone to assume that I think it is easy to get over true depression.
With that said, I am really feeling like myself again!!! I feel like the old Amber is really finding her place in this new mommyhood business and we're even getting a little more of a routine down. Queen Paisley still tells me we have to get up once or twice a night to eat, but she's sleeping pretty good otherwise. Which makes for a much happier momma.

Now, let's talk about exercise. I'm ready to get this body of mine toned back up! I currently weigh 132 which is 14 pounds more than I did before I got pregnant. I have lost 20 pounds which seems great, but I need some toning!!! I do try to remember that I weighed 130 before I started infertility treatments. Metformin caused me to lose a lot of weight. Anyways, it will be nice when I can fit in my regular clothes since my maternity clothes are too big now!

  1. I totally understand not being able to fit maternity clothes, but then not fitting into pre-pregnancy clothes. What a predicament! You look GREAT in your pictures though, so be encouraged!

  2. We are in the same exact boat. I weigh 130 right now and need to lose the last 10-12lbs to fit into my "normal" clothes. I started working out last week and I am loving it. We will get there!

  3. I hate wearing these maternity clothes!! I'm down 5 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight (thanks to anxiety I think) but old clothes don't fit yet as things have shifted...oh well. Glad you're feeling better!!

  4. I guess you're back in the awkward too big for normal clothes, too small for maternity clothes stage, just like the old days of being a few months pregnant. I bet you'll be back to normal in no time, though. Glad you're feeling better!

  6. OH MY GOODNESS, AMBER!!! I am just getting around to catching up on blogs and I can't believe I completely missed your baby's arrival. She is BEAUTIFUL. I reread all of your posts and it sounds like you are doing so well adjusting to all of the newness. You are amazing, and I am so happy for you!

P.S. The fact that you are pumping so much milk is awesome, I am jealous :) Also, sounds like you've got a great sleeper on your hands. YAY for that!

Meet Our Little Miracle, Paisley Kate

The post I have been waiting 2 years to write is finally here and I can't really believe it. On Saturday, I woke up at 8:30 a.m. with BAD contractions. By the 2nd one, I knew I was in "real" labor. They were SO different than the braxton-hicks. I got out of bed and decided that I'd take a bath, until water ran down both legs. The pain after that got pretty unbearable immediately and I was having contractions every 2 1/2 to 3 minutes. So, I called Aaron at work to tell him it was "the big day". He decided I was kidding until I nearly leapt through the phone to wring his neck. :) We got to the hospital an hour later and I was dilated to a 4 and having very active contractions. They quickly got me moved to an L&D room. I got my epidural ( AMAZING - we'll talk about this in its own post soon) at a 6 and then my doctor broke my water. (Apparently at home, it had just leaked a pocket of fluid). After he broke my water, labor started picking up ...

Blogging Failure

The fact that I blog less than I exercise is not a good sign.  I miss you all.  And I'm glad to be where I'm at because the problem is that my cup runneth over.  Life is crazy.  The kids are growing and becoming real people and exploring and I'm still struggling to figure out how to parent a VERY challenging 3-year-old. Dear Paisley is actually quite a joy to raise.  She is spunky and energetic and funny.  We desperately struggle to stifle our laughter as we discipline her for things that I never expected her to do or say.  She is the center of attention and loves her baby brother like there's no tomorrow.  I've never met a more opinionated and divalicious child though.  She picks every piece of clothing she wears, which toy she brings in the car, exactly what she is willing to eat, how her hair is fixed, which door she uses to get in the car, etc.  I hear you out there judging me.  I would have to until I gave birth to Whitney ...

The Resurrection

So here we are.  It's now a blog graveyard.  The followers have long since moved on and infertility is something that I've somewhat put in the past (only considering I don't want any more kids).  So why am I here and writing again?  What's the purpose?   This was my safe place.  It was where I came when everything seemed much too hard and I needed to feel comfort.  I wanted to express myself in a venue that others would reassure me and even understand me.  I still love and have always loved this blog.  It guided me during some of the hardest years of my life, dealing with infertility and miscarriage. And you know... I guess it will help me again now.  Because life is freaking TOUGH.  You know the phrase "I've went through Hell and back"?  Yeah, I feel that in my soul now.  I could have a blowout in the middle lane of the highway during rush hour traffic, manage to pull over my car on the side and call for roadsi...
